The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association came out in force on Sunday, January 6, 2019 to clean up U.S. national parks in Washington, DC, California, Ohio, Florida, and Pennsylvania.

As the federal government shutdown proceeds into its third week, national parks are no longer being cleaned and garbage has piled up. ‘Khuddam’, or Servants, the title given to members of the young men’s group, emptied trash cans and picked up overflowing trash around the country as part of their civic duty.

CNN and other outlets took to Twitter and Instagram to report on the clean-up, which was supported by many local residents as well, who had seen the clean-up announcement in advance:
